Fundraising & Communications Coordinator 

Overall purpose of job

It is an exciting time for Lion Landscapes as we drive forward our ambitious strategy. We want to make large carnivore conservation valuable to local and global communities. Our central goal is to rebalance that equation, making conservation fairer and more effective. The conservation of lions and wider biodiversity must have real, tangible, competitive value for the people sharing the landscape.  Our organisation's programmes are designed to achieve our central goal, and we require a Fundraising & Communications Coordinator to support raising awareness of Lion Landscapes work, increase income generation and support securing the necessary funding to maintain and improve our strategy.

Our fundraising and communications team is small in number but high-performing and ambitious, with a strong track record of success and plans for growth. This role is new to the team and the post holder will be able to make a real impact on the delivery of the charity's fundraising and the overall strategy. The Fundraising & Communications Coordinator will support in growing both restricted and unrestricted funds through individual giving, corporate partnerships, major donors and other new income streams. 

You will report to the Fundraising & Communications Director and together secure vital income for the organisation both now and in the future. Excellent stewardship and relationship management skills, face-to-face, on the phone and in writing will be essential. 

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, highly organised individual with fundraising experience and who is familiar with using a range of communications channels to engage donors. 

Main responsibilities

  • Grow the number and value of regular donors by implementing an agreed digital marketing strategy.

  • Lead on creating fundraising campaigns throughout the year with the F&C Team.

  • Take the lead on growing an active network of fundraisers in the UK, USA and Europe, introducing them to our fundraising campaigns, event participation, GAYE, individual giving and other fundraising opportunities.

  • Support the F&C Director in growing major donor and corporate funding through researching prospects, supporting stewardship, and account management. 

  • Support the F&C Director in identifying and coordinating new corporate partnerships.

  • Deliver excellent stewardship, by actively managing supporter care processes, messages and materials, enabling donors to build an informed and committed relationship with LL. 

  • Research new fundraising opportunities, and make creative suggestions. 

  • Strategically identify to develop content for our website, social media and e-newsletters to grow our supporter base, and increase engagement and donations. 

  • Interact with our communities on these platforms to showcase our work and expand our reach.

  • Analyse the performance of each digital channel and recommend ways to improve engagement and support; use Google Analytics and AdWords to improve traffic and conversions on our website. 

  • Demonstrate our impact to supporters on an ongoing basis. 

  • As the first point of contact for enquiries via email, website and social media, provide excellent supporter care. 

  • Administer and ensure acknowledgement of all donations received by LL. 

  • Responsible for the administration, processes and systems that underpin fundraising activities, including importing data and keeping track of supporter permissions to ensure we are GDPR compliant. 

  • Ensure the CRM database is used effectively to manage our relationships and support fundraising campaigns and appeals, including data entry, segmentation, data extraction and reports. 

  • Support the organisation of online events such as webinars and lead on co-ordinating. 

  • Undertake any other duties which may be reasonably required in the position and contribute to wider activity and the overall success of the charity.

Experience and Skills

  • Experience of charity fundraising, including individual supporter stewardship 

  • Experience of analysing data in the context of digital media and using digital channels to generate support 

  • Experience of using MailChimp and a content management system to update websites 

  • Administrative experience, including managing emails and other communications in a systematic manner 

  • Outstanding communicator, with the ability to engage and develop interest in LL, and successfully build strong relationships with supporters; 

  • Strong writing skills with the ability to adapt language to audience and medium; 

  • Creativity to find solutions and achieve success with limited budgets and resources. 

  • Fully competent and confident in the use of email/internet, word processing, spreadsheets and CRM databases. 

  • Proficient with social media and a willingness to learn/enhance digital marketing skills 

  • Able to combine strategic thinking with delivery of operational work. 

  • Educated to Degree level (desirable) or Graduate calibre

  • Well organised and methodical, with a high degree of attention to detail. 

  • Self-motivated and resourceful; confident approach to work, enthusiastic and able to plan and undertake work with limited direct supervision. 

  • Willing to be flexible and hands-on; able to thrive in a small team. 

  • Quick learner 

  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings if required due to deadlines & international time differences. 

  • Demonstrable interest in nature conservation.

Job specification / Scope of role

  • Reporting to the Fundraising & Communications Director, there are currently no direct reports to this role. 

  • Working across all areas of the charity as well as with external contacts, this role requires excellent levels of both written and verbal communication. 
     

Budgeting and Reporting 

  • Work with the Fundraising & Communications Director to set OKRs for each area of responsibility, monitoring and reporting on these monthly. 

  • Track income vs budget identifying gaps and reporting to the COO and the Director of Fundraising and Communications. 


General 

  • Abide by Lion Landscapes procedures and policies, in particular Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities, Safeguarding & Child Protection and GDPR. 

  • Follow and review finance policies, processes, and procedures. 

  • Promote the Lion Landscapes wherever possible, in particular recruiting new supporters and acting as an ambassador for our vision, values and aims.
     

Terms

Salary scale: GBP 21,000-26,000 (dependant on experience)

Reports to: Fundraising & Communications Director

Location: Remote

We allow agreed flexible working or 9-5 with a flexible approach (Part-time hours will be considered)

Probation: Appointments are subject to receipt of satisfactory references and a probationary period of 6 months.
