Sophie Abache
Communications Manager
Sophie is the Communications Manager at Lion Landscapes, where she leads the organisation's communications strategy, translating complex conservation science into accessible stories that inspire support for coexistence between people and large carnivores.​ Working closely with the wider team, Sophie helps communicate Lion Landscapes' conservation programmes, research, and impact to audiences around the world, supporting fundraising, partnership development, and donor engagement. She oversees Lion Landscapes' brand and digital presence across multiple channels and strengthens internal communications to ensure colleagues across East Africa and the UK stay informed and aligned.
​With more than a decade of experience in strategic communications, Sophie has worked across the nonprofit, public, and private sectors. Before joining Lion Landscapes, she was Digital Strategist and Content Manager at the Open Contracting Partnership, where she led digital communications and supported global programmes to increase the visibility and impact of open government reforms across 50 countries. She also previously served as Communications Coordinator at eHealth Africa, developing and implementing communication strategies that support public health initiatives across Africa.

Sophie holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and a Master's degree in Cybersecurity, bringing a unique blend of technical expertise and strategic communications to her work. She is passionate about using communications as a catalyst for positive change, whether by strengthening organisations from within or inspiring action that improves outcomes for wildlife, people, and the planet.

When she's not working, Sophie enjoys supporting feminist causes, playing video and board games, and spending time with her rambunctious toddler, who keeps her happily on her toes.
